Peer Resource Roles and Expectations
We're so glad you are interested in becoming a Peer Resource! This can be a great learning experience, and we know you have a wealth of information and expertise to share with your peers.
You will need to provide us with a brief profile that outlines your grantmaking roles, interests, and expertise (see enrollment form below!). Once you've completed this profile, the process is simple.
AGF will notify you as soon as we receive a request for a Peer Resource that matches your profile. We will give you the full profile of the AGF member seeking assistance, including their contact information. At that point, you will be responsible for the following:
- The Peer Resource should initiate a phone call to their match to introduce themselves and set up a phone or face-to-face meeting to discuss the needs of the match.
- During the introductory meeting, the Resource and his/her match should clarify specific learning goals and needs, and put together a plan for meeting these needs.
- Work together to carry out your plan and complete your goals. How this is done is completely up to the individuals - it may be one or two face-to-face meetings, a few weeks of email correspondence, etc.
- AGF staff will check in with the Resource within a few weeks of making the match to verify that the relationship is proceeding according to expectations (we will also request that all participants complete an evaluation of their experience with Peer Connections). In the meantime, please feel free to contact AGF at any time with questions, concerns, or requests for assistance.
